Welcome to Bite Size – our bi-monthly blog where we explore a topic in bite size form – short, sharp and easy to digest.

‘Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it’ – Salvador Dali

Chances are, in your work life, there have been times you’ve driven yourself too hard trying to achieve perfection. Well don’t, it’s not worth it and you’re wasting your time.

How many times have you been held back by the worry that what you’re doing is not good enough?

There is no perfect way to do something and once you realise this you will be liberated.

Accept the fact that good is good enough and then move on. No-one and nothing is truly perfect.

In fact, doing something in a not so perfect way could ultimately make it better as you free yourself from unrealistic demands and expectations.

Humans learn more from the failures so let yourself fail. You can then improve. Aiming for perfection all the time stops you from taking risks. It makes you too safe and it limits the potential for change.

Ups and downs are good for you and good for business.

So remember, don’t expect perfection. You’ll never achieve it. Not in this lifetime or anyone else’s.

You have permission to be good enough. Embrace the imperfections. Abandon fear and welcome a new brave, bold and creative vision.
