Digitalization in Leadership Development Programmes, Digitalization Consortium, Digitalization Executive Dialogue

“Organizations need to fully embrace the momentous changes that digitalization is driving across both business and society — or find themselves left behind.”

Digitalization is changing our society: the way we work, communicate and live. Digitalization is revolutionizing a set of broader socio-economic, geopolitical and demographic drivers of change, each interacting in multiple directions and intensifying one another. Entire industries adjust and most occupations are undergoing a fundamental transformation. Increasingly we are dealing with fast-changing technology: developments in 3D-printing, artificial intelligence, genetics, big data analytics and nanotechnology, to name only a few. Today, and more so in the future, the intelligent use of data will create a competitive edge and decide on growth or failure. Companies that are more mature in their adoption of digital computing technologies are proven to have better performance in revenue, profitability and market capitalization. Humans are creating this revolution and we all will be part of it.

Organizations transform from the industrial age into the digital with the help of technology. We can already today observe the consequences: hierarchical organizational structures transform into networks and new collaborative structures, or completely new business structures emerge.

Tomorrow’s leaders have to understand their role in how digitalization and what they are doing is shaping society. They must understand technology, not merely as an enabler but also for its revolutionary force. And leaders must foster a culture able to change and invent the new with the essential that risk taking becomes the norm. The managerial skillset of the past does not apply in the new digital age.

CLP is helping leaders and organizations transform into the digital age. We are aware that this is a big job and we are proud of our achievements and success.

Leader and Digitalization

Today we are hardly offering a leadership development programme without digitalization as one topic. We recognize the global need to develop leaders in how to transit from an industrial mindset into a digital one. Exemplarily, the following topics are covered:

The change in society – from market capitalism to a collaborative common. The interdependence of societal change, advanced technology and organizational development.

Technology acumen: the importance to be technology savvy as a leader.

How the technological future looks – artificial intelligence, software platforms, 3D-printing, data analytics, predictive data, etc.

How organizations will change: from hierarchical structures to networks and new business models.

Leading the digitalized organization: dealing with colleagues, direct reports, robots, virtual friends and humans.

Digitalethics: creating and using data, software and devices.

Digitalization Consortium

A group of leading, non-competing organizations will work together on the subject of the business impact of digitalization.

There will be three workshop-style events, each shaped around the members’ interests and expertly facilitated to enable participants to learn from each other. Opportunities for collaboration will continue between the meetings through web conferencing, plus the possibility of organized site visits. Participants will be active and engaged in the learning process, testing their own ideas on digitalization and sharing insights and approaches with the other consortium members.

The benefits of participation are to establish a powerful network of peer practitioners and extraordinary thinkers on digitalization in other leading organizations (mutual learning through knowledge and best practice sharing). The different processes, tools, roles and approaches that member organizations use will be comparedto harness as a business asset, in order to provide new insights for the different member organizations.

The next consortium starts in November 2016. Please write to us if you are interested in registering.

  • Your organization in 2035 and digitalization’s impact: the Picture of the Future (here, we are working with a method developed by Siemens to draw a consensus scenario of your digitalized future).
  • Zero marginal cost analysis. Digitization’s impact on value chain.
  • tructures and requirements for organizational change.
  • Leaders and digitalization: how to lead and motivate in the digital age.
